Amyris Oil

Amyris oil, also known as West Indian sandalwood oil or Jamaican sandalwood oil, is derived from the wood of the Amyris balsamifera tree, which is native to the Caribbean and Central America. Despite its common name, it is not related to true sandalwood (Santalum album), which is a different species altogether.

Amyris oil has a sweet, warm, and woody aroma reminiscent of sandalwood, which is why it is sometimes called West Indian sandalwood. It is often used in perfumery as a base note and fixative due to its long-lasting fragrance. Additionally, it is used in aromatherapy for its calming and grounding properties.

In addition to its aromatic uses, amyris oil also has some medicinal and skincare applications. It is believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful in treating minor skin irritations and wounds. However, it's always important to dilute essential oils properly before applying them to the skin, as they can be irritating or cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
